West Town Daycare
Curriculum
We understand that a child cannot learn when they do not feel safe, comfortable, and most importantly LOVED. Our primary goal is to make each child feel welcomed and as a vital part of our community. We spend time building strong bonds and relationships with our children and their families.
At West Town Daycare, we challenge ourselves as early educators to see children as competent and capable learners. Loris Malaguzzi, the founder of the Reggio Emilia Approach, emphasized that “it is not so much that we need to think of the child who develops himself by himself but rather of a child who develops himself interacting and developing with others.”
Focusing on building relationships is the foundation of how our teachers at
West Town Daycare develop a unique curriculum that is responsive, child led and emergent. Our lesson plans are carefully and thoughtfully planned and focuses on engaging the child’s current knowledge and plans on ways to extend their learning. Our teachers are viewed as researchers in the classroom exploring alongside the children while carefully documenting their growth, development, and joy.
Education For Everyone
Our Programs
What children learn does not follow as an automatic result from what is taught, rather, it is in large part due to the children’s own doing, as a consequence of their activities and our resources.
